The magic at VivaTango continues in May with an amazing line up of talent. May will kick off with a milonga hosted by MayOk and popular instructors Pablo and Iwona. And then get ready for the Tango Legends, Los Ocampo’s show. They will be joined by Meg Ferrell DJ, VJ and PhD with her great tandas and videos. And next on the list is one of Buenos Aires show and DJ stars who has traveled the world and now comes to VivaTango for your dancing pleasure. Come to Princeton every Thursday and you will see a world of Tango stars at the lowest cost anywhere on this earth. Speaking of Stars, May will finish the final two Thursdays with live music from some of Buenos Aires most popular musicians.

Thursday May 2nd will feature a milonga hosted by MayOk and a lesson by Pablo Garcia Gomez & Iwona Ionescu. Pablo and Iwona’s lesson will be on Multistep combinations with cruces, sacadas, and barridas. Pablo and Iwona are the instructors for the Princeton Adult School Tango classes, and they are popular instructors at VivaTango and other tango events. After the lesson Pablo and Iwona will be available at the side of the dance floor to help any dancers wishing more help with the lesson. MayOk (aka Urszula) will DJ the milonga. Thursday May 9th Tango legends Mónica and Omar will teach and perform at VivaTango. They have performed on the most prestigious world stages for 17 years, both with their own dance company, Tango Bravo, and other shows. Now they divide their time between teaching at their schools around the world, touring widely and performing at prestigious international venues. Thursday May 16 will feature another Buenos Aires Icon. He has studied with the legendary Buenos Aires Tango masters. He has performed on the best stages of the Buenos Aires Tango shows such as La Viruta, Salón Canning, Milonga Animal, Milonga La Pipetuá, DNI Práctica, and others. He taught and DJed at many milongas in Buenos Aires and other international events. He will be at VivaTango to host the Thursday Tango milonga and teach the lesson.
Thursday May 23rd C’est Picó Tango Duo with Guido Lacopetti, guitar/voice, and Ezequiel Agüero, piano. The mixture of these instruments emulates the essence of the great Orquestas Milongueras. They have played together for more tan 10 years in Buenos Aires. They are creative members of the Sexteto Fantasma, with which they have made five European tours. Their repertoire includes the “clásicos bailables” (De Angelis, D’Arienzo, Pugliese, Di Sarli), Valses , Milongas, New Tangos, and many of their own compositions. Guido Lacopetti is a musician from Buenos Aires, Argentina, recognized for his creativity and unique sound. He is a guitarist, singer, arranger, producer, composer and lyricist of Argentine Tango music. Guido is one of the most recognized authors of new tango and his composition “Felicidad”, is one of the most recorded tangos of the 21st century. He has directed and performed with Sexteto Fantasma Tango, one of the most influential orchestras of new Argentine tango for more than a decade. Ezequiel Agüero is a musician from Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is an outstanding artist in the cultural circuit of the city, recognized as a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, session musician and teacher. As a tango musician he has performed at the most prestigious milongas and stages of Argentina and he has made 5 European tours. Ezequiel joins Guido for their performance at VivaTango.
Thursday May 30th will feature live music by Juan Villarreal and Patricio Crom. Juan is a singer, guitarist and composer; and Patricio is an arranger, composer, and guitarist. They are one of the most recognized duos in the tango scene in Buenos Aires and the world. They have embarked on countless tours across Latin America, Europe, and North America. They have released 5 albums and were featured on the cover of “Tangodanza,” the world’s most widely circulated tango magazine. Juan and Patricio join you at VivaTango for your dancing pleasure. This milonga will be just like being present at a milonga in a club in Buenos Aires. Doors open at 7 PM music by DJ Kerry Kay who has recently returned from recently DJing in Buenos Aires. Live music starts at 8:30 PM. $20

VivaTango continues to need help to make events run smoothly. Setup only takes a little time and you do not miss any milonga time. The same is true about cleanup. We urge dancers to bring their water bottle from home to cut down on single use bottles. There is a chilled water fountain next to the bathroom to refill your water bottles with chilled water and a cold/hot water dispenser in the entry to help keep you hydrated.

VivaTango is located at 45 Stockton Street, Princeton New Jersey. There is a well-lit, off-street parking lot at the venue. The large dance floor is in the smaller of the two buildings. The venue is easily accessed by rail from NYC and Philly. Just get a ticket to Princeton (not Princeton Junction. You get off the train at Princeton Junction and take the connecting shuttle train to Princeton.) The venue is 8 blocks from the Princeton Train Station with a lovely walk through the Princeton University Campus (0.8 mi.) MAP
